Bold Insight’s Lew and Schumacher release book on artificial intelligence and user experience

October 22, 2020

Gavin Lew and Robert Schumacher, Managing Partners of Bold Insight, have authored AI and UX: Why Artificial Intelligence Needs User Experience, published by Apress publishing. The book explores the future of artificial intelligence (AI) through interviews with AI experts and explores AI history, product examples and failures, and proposes a UX framework to help make AI successful.

Readers will understand how the usage and success of AI depends on a great user experience and will discover how technology can advance beyond “it works” to “it works well,” which subsequently increases its adoption. The authors also share how to let the users enhance the data to make AI better attuned to their needs.

“The potential for AI is astounding, and it will likely be the defining technology of the 21st century,” said Lew. “However, AI is only going to be as good as the data and information that we feed to it. By designing the technology with a UX framework, we help ensure that AI is delivering on its promise of simplifying life for the end users.”

Schumacher added, “The focus for many AI applications has been to perfect or fine tune the algorithms, less attention has been paid to how the user experience figures into the success. In this book, we make the case that improving the user experience will deliver for users and enterprises producing the applications. Ultimately, if AI doesn’t work for people it doesn’t work.”

Written for individuals interested in the success of AI products and services, including futurists, technophiles, or product designers and product managers working on AI products, the book can be ordered on Amazon or Apress.
